• Jersey Senators Promote Truck Safety

Reporting from the NJ Star-Ledger in June shows two New Jersey Senators, Cory Booker and Robert Menendez, are fighting back against a plan by the U.S. Congress to alleviate some restrictions on truck drivers’ schedules.

Critics of the proposed change in federal rules say that the Senate Appropriations Committee was influenced by the trucking industry, and that federal legislators are due to make American roads less safe by allowing truckers to work over an average of 70 hours a week, according to prior guidelines recommended by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

    Local New Jersey Road Safety

In looking at proposed changes, Senators Booker and Menendez cite a total of over 600 traffic fatalities in New Jersey in 2011 and over 6000 during a 10 year. Along with billions in property damage.

In representing their constituencies, these local politicians are trying to preserve awareness around the issue of heavy vehicle accidents that impact New Jersey communities. Especially in the congested urban areas around the Delaware River, special care needs to be exercised to do the utmost in terms of safety for everyone who shares the road, which is something that Marlton injury lawyers and other local legal teams understand from experience.

Safety Precautions and Personal Injury Lawyers

When injury attorneys represent clients in court, they look at the full context of a traffic accident or other personal injury case. This includes considering whether appropriate safety precautions were put in place, for example, whether signage and lighting were used appropriately to prevent secondary accidents. Beyond the responsibility of individual drivers, personal injury lawyers will look at any responsibility by third parties where negligence may have contributed to an accident.

Injury victims rely on injury attorneys to keep them informed about their cases, and to get them equitable results in local courts. Without the right kind of legal representation and counsel, it can be hard to collect the money that a family needs for care of an injured family member. Qualified personal injury lawyers can make all of the difference in eventual legal outcomes.
