Michael A. Kaplan is a former Vice President of ATLA-NJ (now known as New Jersey Association for Justice (NJAJ).

He has taught trial advocacy at Rutgers University Law School in Camden, New Jersey from 1979 through 2004. He has lectured on various trial issues for the Camden County Bar Association, New Jersey State Bar Association, New Jersey Continuing Legal Education, NJAJ and National Institute for Trial Advocacy.

His primary practice involves the litigation of personal injury matters with a specialization in construction accidents, workplace accidents, products liability accidents, motor vehicle accidents and premises liability accidents.

His recoveries include multiple million dollar recoveries.  For example:

$11 million dollar recovery for the family of a union carpenter who was killed while driving to work.

$8.6 million verdict for the estate of a woman killed when struck by an intoxicated driver. The verdict was again both the driver and the bar that served him.

$2.1 million recovery for 8 year old boy who sustained serious brain injury resulting from actions of a drunk driver. Recovery was from both the driver and the establishment that served the alcoholic beverages.

$1.625 million dollar recovery for a truck driver struck by a pallet being hoisted by an overhead crane.

In addition to his trial practice, he has lectured extensively for the New Jersey Association for Justice (NJAJ), Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association, Philadelphia Trial Lawyers, Camden County Bar Association, Practicing Law Institute, New Jersey State Bar Association and National Institute for Trial Advocacy.

He has been appointed by the American Arbitration Association to its panel of arbitrators and has been a court appointed arbitrator in several counties in New Jersey.
