Pharmaceutical Liability
Vioxx, Fen-Phen, Baycol, Accutane --- these
and many other prescription medications approved
by the FDA have been shown to cause significant
injury and even death to many unsuspecting
and trusting patients. In some cases the drug
is voluntarily withdrawn from the market. In
other cases the FDA orders the drug company
to discontinue the production of the drug.
Sometimes the FDA will require stronger warnings
and precautions. In any event, the damage has
been done and innocent consumers have been
seriously injured or died from these defective
drugs.
Depending on the circumstances, the victims
may choose to file an individual lawsuit or
join in a class action lawsuit. That decision
should be made after careful consideration
of all the relevant facts in the case. Certainly
a consultation with an attorney would be appropriate.
We can help you make that important decision.
One of the more recent and well known drugs
to be withdrawn from the market is Vioxx.
On September 30, 2004 Merck & Co. withdrew
the arthritis and pain medication because studies
suggested that the drug significantly increased
the risk of heart attacks, strokes and other
cardiovascular events. These events may be
dose and time related. Patients taking more
than 25mg daily were found to triple the incidence
of heart related problems. If you suspect that
you or a loved one has been victimized by taking
Vioxx, please complete the case review or contact
us directly.
