Mati Jarve
Mati Jarve is a double board certified trial
attorney. He is certified by the New Jersey
Supreme Court as a Civil Trial Attorney and
as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board
of Trial Advocates.
His primary practice involves the litigation
of personal injury matters involving professional
malpractice, products liability, motor vehicle
and premises liability issues.

has recognized him for numerous multi-million
dollar recoveries. For example:
- $30.5 million jury verdict in Gloucester County for a man rendered a ventilator dependent quadriplegic in a car crash (reduced by 30% for his failure to wear a seatbelt)
- $7.685 million jury verdict in Camden County
for a woman broadsided by the driver of an
SUV who ran a stop sign, causing catastrophic
injuries. She was rendered totally and permanently
disabled as a result of the crash.
- $6.1 million jury verdict for the traumatic amputation of a pedestrian's leg who was struck by a SUV. Both Mr. Kaplan and Mr. Jarve were involved in this trial in Camden County
- $2.9 Million jury verdict for a defective
seatbelt retractor. The defective seatbelt
of her car failed to restrain this 71 year
old woman, causing her to
break
both legs.
- $2.7 Million recovery for a products liability/medical
malpractice/premises liability case. This
truck driver was delivering Coca-Cola to
a grocery store when an overhead door in
the receiving area fell and struck him in
the head. Surgery to restore function to
his right arm and shoulder was unsuccessful
and he could no longer work.
- $2 Million recovery involving products
liability/medical malpractice/premises liability
arising from a work place injury. Mr. Jarve
was co-counsel in this Pennsylvania matter.
A 65 year old man suffered a closed head
injury when he slipped and fell at work due
to a leaky eye wash faucet. He was further
injured while he was a patient at a rehabilitation
hospital in Philadelphia.
- $1.75 million recovery for a 20-year-old
motorcyclist who lost his leg in an accident
caused by a pothole on a country road that
had been negligently maintained.
- $1.5 Million settlement for orthopedic
injuries caused by an auto accident in New
York City. Mr. Jarve was admitted pro
hac vice (for this one case) in the
State of New York.
- $1.14 million settlement for the wrongful
death of a tow truck operator who was struck
by a hit and run vehicle while assisting
a disabled car on the shoulder of I-95 in
Philadelphia.
- $1.07
Million verdict against a farm worker for
the wrongful death of a 14 year old boy operating
a dirt bike on a farm in Cumberland County,
New Jersey.
- $1 Million recovery for a defectively
designed piece of heavy equipment that caused
serious orthopedic injuries in a work related
accident.

- $975,000 settlement of a wrongful death
lawsuit arising from a car accident on the
New Jersey Turnpike. Mr. Jarve was co-counsel
with New York attorneys in this federal district
court case.
- $725,000 binding arbitration award
arising from an ambulance accident. The plaintiff
Emergency Medical Technician was forced to
give up her profession due to Post-Traumatic
Stress Disorder caused by the accident.
- $700,000 recovery for the wrongful death
of a 4 year old boy killed in an auto-truck
accident on the Ohio Turnpike. Mr. Jarve
was admitted pro hac vice in the
State of Ohio to litigate this matter.
- $691,840
gross jury verdict in Atlantic County, New
Jersey involving a motorcycle-truck accident.
The motorcyclist suffered serious orthopedic
and internal injuries when he attempted to
pass a truck making a left turn into a driveway.
- $600,000
judgment for a herniated cervical disc caused
by a bicycle-auto crash.
- $500,000 recovery
for a herniated lumbar disc, involving multiple
surgeries. The New Jersey Supreme Court denied
the insurance company’s appeal regarding
underinsured motorists coverage, which resulted
in this policy limit recovery.
- $500,000 verdict
for orthopedic injuries suffered by an 86
year old widow in a car-truck accident. The
case was tried in Common Pleas Court in Philadelphia.
In addition to his practice as a trial attorney,
he has been appointed by the American Arbitration
Association to its panel of arbitrators. Similarly,
he serves as court-appointed arbitrator for
several southern New Jersey counties. He is
also selected as an arbitrator in Uninsured
and Underinsured cases on a regular basis.
Mr. Jarve’s non-legal interests include
horses, cars and motorcycles.
He owns and operates Horseshoe Farm, along
with his wife, Connie, son Chris, and daughter,
Kati. Together, they breed, raise, sell, train
and show Quarter Horses. In addition, he has
represented many horse owners, veterinarians,
farms and equine-related associations in various
matters, including litigation.
His favorite toys are his Corvette and his
Harley-Davidson. He enjoys going to horse shows,
air shows, car shows and motorcycle runs. Perhaps
not coincidentally, he regularly represents
horsemen and motorcyclists in a variety of
different matters.
